BUSINESS INITIATIVE OF THE YEAR AWARD
London, UK, 24 November 2005 - Proximagen Neuroscience plc (AIM: PRX), the specialty drug discovery and development company focused on neurodegenerative diseases, is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the "Business Initiative Of The Year" award at yesterday's Times Higher Awards Ceremony 2005.
Proximagen was praised for the strength, focus and drive of its management team, for generating profits and for floating on the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market little more than a year after it was created in November 2003.
The event received widespread support and included a special video message for the ceremony from Prime Minister Tony Blair, in which he hailed the achievements of the UK's world-beating higher education institutions.
Prizes were presented by a number of distinguished guests including Bill Rammell, Minister for Higher Education, and Colin Blakemore, Chief Executive of the Medical Research Council.
Kenneth Mulvany, Chief Executive Officer of Proximagen, who collected the award with the Company's Chief Scientific Officer, Professor Peter Jenner, said: We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. Proximagen is a great example of the partnership that can be created between universities and the commercial world. The rapid growth and success of Proximagen reflects the entrepreneurial spirit developed at King's College London by KCL Enterprises in conjunction with the university IP commercialision group IP2IPO.
